"We should commence a probe exploration at the end of the year," said Petrolinvest president Paweł Gricuk. According to geological and seismic research of the deposits, the Żubantam oilfield is thought to have 1.2 billion barrels, but the amount that could be in fact extracted stands at 250 million barrels.

Recently the company announced that the whole investment program will consume about $200 (zł.552) million, but it was stressed that once the oil was found it could increase to $400-500 (zł.1,104-1,380) million next year. "The final assessment of the size of deposits should be made after an analysis by an independent auditor," said DI BRE Bank analyst Kamil Kliszcz. The company also signed a three-month cooperation agreement with a group of Russian exploration companies and once oil deposits are assessed along with the arrangement of future capital structure of the investment, Petroinvest might invest in the venture by the end of the year. "We do not exclude another share issue, but we might pay for the shares with our current equity," said Gricuk. (Puls Biznesu, pp. 1, 8; Rzeczpospolita, p. B3; Parkiet, p.4) M.M.
