TPSA to invest PLN 27bn to make Internet and data transmission its core business
Poland's dominating telecom operator Telekomunikacja Polska (TPSA) is to invest PLN 27bn (USD 6.5bn) over the next three years in data transmission and Internet. TPSA wants to make these activities its core business, but currently data transmission and Internet account for only 10% of the company's revenues, fixed-line operations generate 70%, while mobile telephony the rest of revenue. The company's aim is to generate 30% of revenue from fixed line telephone services, the same from mobile phone operations, and 40% from Internet and data transmission. TPSA also wants to become the first operator in Poland to offer the use of electronic signatures. The projects are to be financed in 60% by TPSA's own reserves, while the rest would come from bond and stocks issues. According to the latest report of DiS, TPSA is also the leader of the IT sector contractors, co-operating with 106 IT companies.
