The opening of the Vladimir plant is expected to benefit Forte's development in the Ukrainian market. Until now the furniture sold in Russia was produced in Forte's plant in Ukraine. "Now the factory in Artiomovsk will be able to concentrate on increasing sales in Ukraine. Its potential is also very big," Formanowicz explained.

According to company sources, exports make up 60 percent of the company's sales. In 2005 Forte furniture entered new markets such as the UK, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and France. "We have invested in the development of our sales network. I'm sure these investments are a good basis for further dynamic growth of the group," Formanowicz said.

After Q3 of 2005 Forte had revenues of zł.285.2 million in comparison to zł.280.8 million in the corresponding period of 2004.

This is the Polish furniture firm's first factory in Russia, and will employ 250 people. The plant in Vladimir was bought in May 2005 and is run by Forte Rus - the company's Russian subsidiary. Forte has so far invested EUR 9 (zł.35) million in the development of the factory and a further EUR 2 (zł.7.7) million will be invested in 2006. "By the end of [2006] the plant will reach full production capacity," the president of Fabryka Mebli Forte, Maciej Formanowicz, said. Adding that Russia is a strategic market for the company, the president expressed hope that the value of production will amount to EUR 20 (zł.78) million annually.
