"Most of all they will play the role of marketing tools. As independent operators they do not have sufficient capabilities to compete with infrastructure operators in terms of basic offer," said Witold Laskowski, president of Telestar, subsidiary of MNI. He went on to say that the way to measure the success of an MVNO is not the number of subscribers, but its financial results.

MNI operates two virtual mobile phone operators - SIMfonia, aimed at the users of MNI Telecom, and Ezo Mobile - for those interested in astrology. "We launched this project recently and interest is very substantial. We distribute several hundred cards every day," said Laskowski.

The third project is called Snickers Mobile which is being carried out for confectionary producer Mars. "This is the beginning of the project. It has enormous potential, but it is too early to assess it," said the president of Telestar.

He went on to say that a number of virtual societies operating on the internet could be moved to telecommunication. MNI will spend over zł.50 million for a 51.1 percent stake in the First Class travel agent which renders services to corporate clients.
