Economy Ministry proposes to sell power producers together with distributors
Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Janusz Steinhoff announced that the ministry would like to sell less profitable power producers together with the more lucrative energy distributors, which would facilitate the privatisation process of the power generation sector. Steinhoff said the two industries were related, while their privatisation must be accelerated to make the power sector competitive, ahead of the opening of the energy market in 2005. Currently potential investors have been interested in the distribution companies only. The government will discuss the new strategy over the next few weeks. bb, kp
