The government to deal with 2002 budget within two weeks.

After approving this year budget amendment, the government will deal with assumptions for the next year budget. Deputy Prime Minister Janusz Steinhoff said that in two weeks time, the Finance Minister would present the main measures on which the next budget will be based. Recently, Finance Minister Jaroslaw Bauc said that the 2002 budget would assume a 2.9% GDP growth, as compared with 2% under the worst-case scenario for this year, and 4% reported in 2000, as well as inflation at the level of 5.1%. The government has until the end of September to send its 2002 budget draft to the Sejm for approval.
