Changes in the SSE law to make investments go down
Changes to the law on special economic zones (SSE) that came into force on Jan 1, 2001, made investors rush to Poland's 15 SSE in the last 50 days of 2000. Almost 730 firms that wanted to benefit from a full tax exemption received permissions to operate in SSEs, where they are expected to invest some PLN 13.14bn (USD 3.19bn). The SSEs warned that interest in investing in Poland would significantly decrease after the changes in the regulations are introduced.
