Hungary's MOL to develop a petrol station chain in southern Poland
The Hungarian oil and gas concern MOL is going to open a chain of petrol stations across southern Poland, in co-operation with the Slovak oil company Slovnaft, in which MOL holds a 36.2% stake. The move may be considered an alternative way to establish the company's presence on the large Polish market, after MOL lost its bid for Poland's second-largest refinery Rafineria Gdanska to the British corporation Rotch Energy, and as its chances for purchasing a stake in Poland's largest oil company PKN Orlen are viewed as slim. MOL plans to open about 80 stations in Poland by 2005, including three stations now owned by Slovnaft. kp,bb
