Privatisation of energy distribution companies to slow down
Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Janusz Steinhoff stated that he would like to slow down ongoing privatisation of the energy distribution industry, otherwise restructuring and privatisation of power plants would be complicated. Steinhoff believes that before the distribution enterprises are privatised, the state should have sold the power-generating plants. This calls for a revision of the government's strategy for privatisation of Poland's power industry. However, none of the distribution plants have been privatised yet, while the treasury has already sold stakes in the power plants Patnow-Adamow-Konin (PAK) and Polaniec, as well as the power and heat-generating plants Elektrocieplownia Leg and Zespol Elektrocieplowni Warszawskich.
