The company is currently looking for a suitable location in Central and Eastern Europe for a major manufacturing investment, and Ostrołęka is one of three contenders. Ostrołęka's chances may have improved yesterday when the Treasury announced Stora was the only bidder for the 28% stake in Stora Enso Poland that it did not already own. "Buying the remaining shares from the Treasury and thus completing the privatization of our Polish company would have a major positive impact on our decision about location, although we cannot say it would be decisive," says Hernyk Mikołajewski, vice-president of Stora Enso Poland. The company currently has three plants: Ostrołęka, Tychy and Łódź. (Rzeczpospolita, p. B4) R.M.
