"We estimate that in Q4 2005 WP's share in the internet advertising market amounted to 25 percent. Our goal is to have a 32-percent share in Q4 2006," said Dominika Herburt-Heybowicz, a member of WP's management board.
However, according to surveys by Megapanel PBI/Gemius, in 2005 WP lost its second position among the most popular Polish websites, in favor of Google. Now it holds third place with 6.6 million users visiting the portal in November 2005, with Onet remaining on top with 7.7 million users.
"In 2006 we want to increase the number of users and strengthen our market position. Our top priority target is being number one in Polish internet. In February we are planing to launch our redesigned main page of WP, which should be more user friendly and clear," Herbert-Heybowicz said.

Even though Wirtualna Polska (WP) planned to close 2005 with a positive financial result, it did not manage to do so, due to liabilities it had to pay as part of an agreement with its creditors.
