"We have invested 1.8 [zł.7.4] million in the operator of Era and we demand that our rights are respected," Levy said.

The dispute between Vivendi and Elektrim Telekomunikacja (ET) on one side, and Deutsche Telekom and Elektrim on the other, over who owns 49 percent of PTC's shares has been grinding through the courts for more than a year. The shares were owned by ET, but Elektrim and Deutsche Telekom managed to introduce changes in the management and advisory boards of PTC and regain control over 48 percent of the shares. In March a court of arbitration in Vienna confirmed Elektrim's ownership of the 48 percent stake and declared the earlier transfer to Elektrim Telekomunikacja invalid.

Vivendi plans to buy Elektrim's shares for e650 (zł.2,659) million. Levy declared that Vivendi wants to be a long term investor in PTC and that the company's goal is to maintain PTC's leading position on the Polish market. Vivendi wants to achieve this by strengthening and maintaining the Heyah and Era brands.

Levy also said that there are no plans to follow the likes of Idea, which is re-branding to Orange. MP

Although Vivendi's president Jean Bernard Levy declared that the company sees great potential for the growth of paid-for TV services in Poland, the firm's number one priority is regaining control over Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (PTC) - the operator of Era and Heyah.
