Russia's Ivanov: there is no question of corridors to Kaliningrad
One of the most important issues discussed during the Warsaw visit of Russian Federation's Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov was the problem of the Kaliningrad enclave after Poland and Lithuania join the European Union. Ivanov said there was no question of creating any kind of exterritorial corridors to connect the enclave with Russia's main territory, but Kaliningrad's residents should have right of non-visa transit through Poland and Lithuania. Poland's position has been clear that after joining EU, the European law is adopted, according to which Poland should introduce visas for its eastern neighbours. Poland's Foreign Minister Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz stressed that the problem touched not only on the Russian-Polish relations, but also on relations between Russia, Poland and the European Union. kp,bb
