Yukos to consider participation in privatisation of RG
The Russian oil concern Yukos will consider the possibility of participation in privatisation of the petrochemical concern Rafineria Gdanska (RG), if a new tender of offers is being called by Poland's Treasury, Director of International Communication Department at Yukos, Hugo Erikssan, told ISB on Wednesday. Erikssan said that the Polish market, as the largest one in Central Europe, was naturally in the area of interest for Yukos. He said the company would watch and analyse the situation, but refused to comment on the recent Polish press reports that a Russian oil company might join forces with the British consortium Rotch Energy in its current bid for a 75% stake in RG. Nafta Polska, the company that is responsible for privatisation of the fuel sector, denied earlier press reports that said the company planned to talk with a Russian company on the sale of RG. At this stage of negotiations, a new partner for Rotch would be possible only if Rotch could maintain its dominating position in the consortium and would remain the main guarantor of the contract for Nafta Polska, which means such possibility could be discarded. Nevertheless, according to some more press reports, it could be the Russian oil company Lukoil that joins Rotch, which proved unable to finance the investment projects in the refinery by itself. Lukoil has plans to sell to RG its crude oil extracted in the Kaliningrad district across Poland's northern border. ISB,kp,bb
