Steinhoff: GDP to grow 2.5% this year

According to Deputy Prime Minister Janusz Steinhoff, GDP will grow 2.5% this year, as compared to the 2%, assumed in the budget revision bill presented by Finance Minister Jaroslaw Bauc. The Finance Minister said his forecast was pessimistic in order to avoid another budget revision towards the end of the year in case the economy did not accelerate. The original budget law provided for GDP growth at the level of 4.5%. The budget bill is to be discussed by the government today, in order to specify the expenditure cuts as requested by the Sejm.
