More and more analysts believe that the situation looks bad. Yesterday, the WIG20 index came close to hitting its 2007 low and this is now expected to happen very soon. "Investors will remember what happened. Even when a small upward bounce takes place, eventual falls will drag it further down later," said Roland Paszkiewicz, chief analyst with CDM. The biggest losses were incurred by banks, developers and construction companies. The situation is further deteriorating due to negative signals from the USA, which is hovering on the verge of recession. "Since the beginning of the year it is clearly visible that investors prefer safer assets, such as gold, corn and copper," said Marek Nienałtowski, analyst with Goldenegg. The current situation in Poland is still positive due to strong internal demand, but an economic slowdown might appear if American unease spreads across the world.
