PKN to spend USD 550mn on development
PKN Orlen wants to spend USD 550mn on expanding its operations on the petrochemical market, according to the company's development strategy approved by its supervisory board yesterday. The company plans to increase its annual production in the Plock refinery from the current 360,000 tonnes to 660,000 tonnes of ethylene and from 240,000 tonnes to 445,000 tonnes of propylene. The company also wants to co-operate with Basell Europe Holdings BV (a joint venture of BASF and Shell) on production of polyolephins, basic plastic materials. The talks with Basell should be concluded in September.
