Government to decide in two weeks whether to amend budget 2001

Deputy PM and Economy Minister Janusz Steinhoff said that the government will make a decision whether to cut budget expenditures or to amend the whole budget law by increasing the deficit within the next two weeks. Steinhoff said he would opt for the former solution, although he added that the Economy Ministry had not received all necessary documentation from the Finance Ministry so it still needed some time to analyse the situation. In Steinhoff's opinion the cuts might affect investment or restructuring programs. bb, kp
