Russia's Ivanov to discuss gas pipelines with Poland
It is expected that Russian Foreign Minister Ivanov, who is coming to Warsaw today, will discuss the controversial issue of the planned natural gas pipeline that would connect Russian gas fields with Western Europe, to which Poland has disagreed as long as it would bypass Ukraine. Ivanov may also have talks about the telecommunication optic fibre line that has been put down along the existing Yamal gas pipeline, which, allegedly, might be used for data and voice transfers without the required Polish licenses. The visit might mean a breakthrough in Polish-Russian relations, which have not been too good since Poland joined NATO last year.
