In August last year, P4, then called Netia Mobile, won a tender for UMTS frequencies and gained a concession for providing third-generation (3G) mobile-phone services. This year the company signed a EUR 150 (zł.605) million contract with Chinese company Huawei for the supply of 3G infrastructure in Poland. Comverse, one of the world‘s leading suppliers of software and multimedia communication systems, will provide complex telecommunication services for P4 in a contract worth EUR 25 (zł.101) million.
At the beginning of June P4 signed an agreement with Polkomtel, the operator of the Plus and Sami Swoi networks, on the basis of which P4 customers will have access to voice connections, data transmission and SMS services provided via the GMS network, which is owned by Polkomtel. This is the first case in Poland of the wholesale sale of access to a communication network, which will result in increased competition on the market.
„In July we signed a transmission contract with Netia. We will be operating on their connections. We want to create synergy with our shareholders,” says Bannister.
Although P4 will offer convergent services combining stationary and mobile-communication services to corporate customers, the company‘s main target are young individuals. „Sex, games and rock & roll,” is Bannister‘s motto for success. „We will change the face of Polish communications,” he says.
