At the moment, Prokom's IT empire is based on four separate entities: Prokom Software, the number one player in public sector contracts; Asseco, which specializes in IT systems for the banking and finance sectors; ABG Spin, whose core business is in software for the agricultural, energy and healthcare sectors; and Comp, an IT security company. All four firms are themselves the products of earlier mergers, and own scores of smaller businesses. Ryszard Krauze, Prokom CEO, has reportedly decided to merge all of them into one company, most probably under the Asseco brand. Indeed, it is Asseco's phenomenal growth since its creation from the merger of Softbank and Comp Rzeszów that apparently inspired the minds of Prokom executives. "Merging the Prokom companies under the Asseco brand makes sense. Apart from obvious operating synergies, such a company would have a respected leadership and a trusted brand," says Przemysław Sawala-Uryasz, analyst at CA IB. (Puls Biznesu, p. 1, 4-5) R.M.
