Investors vie for Interia.pl

Twenty financial investors are said to be interested in putting their money in the Internet portal company Interia.pl, before its flotation on the stock market. Interia.pl is owned by a consortium that includes the computer company ComArch (42% of the share capital) and the radio station RMF. Initially it wanted to acquire a telecom investor, but ComArch's CEO Janusz Filipiak said the best would be an investor from the media sector. Filipiak also said that the company's public offer might be expected in January of February 2001. It is almost certain that the stock will be floated on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Before the offer, however, the new strategic investor will purchase 10% of the stock from the company's current shareholders and then acquire the shares of a new issue -- a move that would bring them about PLN 38mn (USD 8.8mn).
