In April Centertel announced that it would be changing its brand name to Orange, and agreed to pay France Telecom 1.6 percent of its income for rights to the name. It is expected that Poland's two other mobile operators, Era (with major shareholder Deutsche Telekom) and Plus GSM (Vodafone), will react by switching respectively to international brands T-mobile and Vodafone in the near future.

As of the beginning of September, PTK Centertel, Poland's second-largest mobile operator, began a media onslaught to prepare its 8.6 million customers for its Idea mobile services to come under the brand name Orange.
