Shell to buy Polish refinery
The oil giant Shell is considering purchasing shares in a Polish oil refinery, Czechowice, Glimar or Jaslo, in order to become less dependent on supplies from Poland's largest fuel concern PKN Orlen, which controls 60% of the Polish market. Thanks to the investment Shell hopes to double the number of its filling stations, from 203 to 400, and increase its share in the Polish market from the current 6% to 15% over the next few years. The refineries Czechowice, Glimar and Jaslo are currently owned by the State Treasury (through its agency Nafta Polska). kp,bb
