According to daily Dziennik, the firm is facing difficulty with supply contracts.

PGNiG's LNG terminal in Świnoujscie was expected to open in 2011 and accommodate around 2.5 billion cubic meters of LNG a year. Construction of the facility could cost around EUR 450 (zł.1,621) million.

Negotiations with Algeria, a potential supplier for the terminal, have recently broken off, however. "It takes between six and seven years to receive the first (gas) supplies after a contract has been signed," Civic Platform deputy Andrzej Czerwiński was quoted as saying.

"Without stable supplies it makes no sense to build the terminal," Czerwiński added.
