The start of the week opened with bad news from the US financial market. Lehman Brothers lost hope of being bailed out and was forced to announce bankruptcy yesterday. Though Bank of America's takeover of Merrill Lynch had calmed nerves somewhat, the nervous atmosphere after Lehman Brothers' announcement still hit every stock exchange, with bourses in London, Paris and Frankfurt recording major falls around the 4% mark. The Warsaw Stock Exchange recorded a 3.62% drop, although most analysts continue to say that the Polish economy's fundamentals are strong.
