"The goal of the visit has two purposes and parties have vested much hopes in it," said an anonymous source close to the Treasury Ministry. Firstly, the Hungarians will visit Ludwik Sobolewski, president of the WSE, and it is expected that as a result there will be news on a dual listing of OTP, both here in Warsaw and in Hungary.

Another meeting will be held with the Treasury Minister Aleksander Grad, as according to sources he will receive a proposal for closer cooperation of OTP and PKO BP. "Following a visit by president Csanyi, it is difficult to expect any decisions, as it mainly has a courteous nature. Nevertheless, the visit of OTP president is symptomatic," said the source related to PKO BP.

The visit is a part of a larger plan related to the merger of PKO BP and OTP. "[OTP] realizes that it will not make much more on its own and sooner or later they will be taken over by a larger player. The same fate will eventually concern PKO BP, for which it is the final opportunity to retain at least part of its Polish nature," said the source. In the first stage banks would swap their shares and eventually could carry out a merger.
