Only 47% of Poles support EU integration
The latest survey conducted by the polling institution OBOP shows that 47% of respondents support the idea of Poland joining the EU, while 17% are against it. The support for integration was highest two years ago at 64%. The number of people against EU membership has been steadily growing: from 9% in 1998 to 12% in May 2000 and 17% last month. Three quarters of the population believes Poland should postpone its access until all the required changes and reforms are completed, while 14% think it would be best to join as soon as possible.
