SLD leads the polls with 54% support
According to a poll conducted by the public opinion centre PBS for the daily newspaper Rzeczpospolita, the opposition, post-communist Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) is supported by 54% of potential voters, which has been the highest poll result for that party in months. This would guarantee the party about 60% of the seats in the Sejm and the opportunity to form a government without the need to seek coalition partners. SLD was followed by PO and the ruling AWS with 12% support each. For PO, this result means a 5pps drop in popularity from last month. The Polish Peasant Party (PSL) went up in the ranking by 2pps to 9%, while support for the Freedom Union (UW) dropped from 6% to 5% -- just on the threshold that allows a party to get seats in the Sejm. bb, kp
