Banking climate index Pengab stays at the seven-year low of 26.6
In March, the banking climate index Pengab stood unchanged from February's 26.6 points, or a seven-year low, according to the private polling institute Pentor. Despite persisting concerns over economic growth, the bankers predicted an improvement of the business climate in the banking sector in future. Pentor's president Eugeniusz Smilowski said that Pengab's poor performance in the last two months results from a large gap between credit supply and demand. Bankers said the situation was very difficult as far as credits are concerned, but 70% of those polled expected some improvement in the coming months. bb, kp
