Tomaszewski: AWS won't win with SLD but still has a chance to get a good result
Former deputy prime minister Janusz Tomaszewski, who will probably lead the ruling Solidarity Elections Action's (AWS) elections campaign, said AWS did not have a chance of winning with the opposition Democratic Left Alliance (SLD), but should nevertheless have a good result in the coming general elections. Tomaszewski added that this would enable AWS to create a strong coalition with other political groupings that might be able to have a majority in the Sejm. He also said that the chief mistake of AWS had been the failure to undertake unification measures to form one strong party and to join forces with the Freedom Union (UW), AWS's former junior coalition partner. kp,bb
