The government proposes to amend the banking law
The government proposed amendments to the banking law that would adjust it to the European Union regulations. The new regulations will allow EU-based banks to operate in Poland after obtaining a permission from the banking supervision commission. After Poland joins the Union, they will be allowed to operate in Poland without licences. The proposed changes provide for setting up Polish banks and branches in EU as well. Other important changes approved by the government concern electronic money, electronic signatures, and consumer credits, but these issues are to be included in a separate piece of legislation. bb, kp
