RPP leaves policy rates unchanged
As expected, the Monetary Policy Council (RPP) left interest rates unchanged on its Wednesday's meeting, and maintained the tightening bias in its monetary policy because of inflation risks. RPP said that the risk factors remained the same as in the past: first of all, the situation on the international fuel market with no prospects for any significant lowering of oil prices, and on the food market. The fuel and food prices had mounted the inflation rate to the two-year high of 11.6% in July and made the RPP raise interest rates to as high as 19%-23%.
