PSL wants to be in coalition with SLD
The Polish Peasant Party (PSL) considers the possibility of forming a coalition with the main opposition Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) after the coming elections. PSL's leader Jaroslaw Kalinowski said that when the previous SLD-PSL coalition ruled in 1994-1997, the country's economy grew fastest. He criticised the current government for allowing high unemployment and called for cheap credit that would help to increase the number of jobs. In his opinion, the government should co-operate with NBP on monetary and exchange rate policy, as the high zloty hampers exports while imports are growing. PSL has been ranked as the third or fourth political grouping in recent polls with around 10% support from potential voters, which is growing. It is likely that SLD would seek a coalition with PSL if it wins the elections, but falls short of a majority to form a government. bb, kp
