Bauc: this year's inflation should drop to at least 9% y/y
Finance Minister Jaroslaw Bauc said that RPP's decision to raise interest rates was not surprising. According to the finance minister, this year's inflation rate should drop to at least 9% y/y and rates might be lowered again at that time. He also said that RPP's decision now makes it necessary to revise this and next year's macroeconomic projections. However, economic growth will not slow down much, because of the low level of credit, which amounts to only 25% of GDP. On the other hand, many analysts have voiced an opinion that higher rates will not reduce the inflation rate much, but will still hinder economic growth.
