Foreign pharmaceutical firms interested in PGF
Rotschild Corporate Finance, which advises the minority shareholders in the Polish Pharmaceutical Group (PGF), said several foreign firms were monitoring the situation on the Polish pharmaceutical market and were interested in buying the company's shares. It also said that three of the minority shareholders are willing to sell their shares that total to 28% of the voting rights in the company. PGF's President Jacek Szwajcowski said the potential buyers could include the largest European pharmaceuticals producers: Gehe and Phoenix of Germany and Alliance-Unichem of the UK. PGF is currently undergoing restructuring process that involves a merger with Cefarm-Poznan, expected to be completed by the end of 2001.
